For more than 30 years, I have been part of the freight and logistics industry.
During those three decades, I had the opportunity to work closely with retailers, businesses, manufacturers, freight partners and customers across different markets. I saw how efficiently the world could move goods from one country to another.
Shipping was built around cargo. Shopping was built around products. The two were rarely connected.
A retailer could have a great product, but reaching customers in another country was often complicated. A customer could find exactly what they wanted, but getting it delivered from another country could be expensive, confusing and sometimes simply impossible.
There had to be a better way.
The idea for World2Door came from this experience.
What if buying something from another country could be as easy as buying something locally?
What if customers could discover products from retailers around the world, understand the complete cost of getting those products to their doorstep, and choose the most appropriate way to ship them?
And what if retailers could reach customers globally without having to build their own international logistics infrastructure?
World2Door has been a journey of more than just building a technology platform.
For the past 10 years, we have been working on the challenges that sit between retail, cross-border commerce and logistics.
We have spent years understanding what makes international shipping difficult — freight rates, modes of transport, customs, duties and taxes, documentation, destination restrictions, product dimensions, weight, delivery options and, most importantly, the uncertainty around the final cost.
We learned that the biggest challenge was not simply moving a product from A to B.
That learning has shaped World2Door.
Today, World2Door is evolving from a freight company into a global commerce and logistics platform.
Our vision is to connect retailers and customers across borders and make international commerce simpler, more transparent and more accessible.
The world has become increasingly connected.
Customers are no longer limited to what is available in the stores around them. They discover products through social media, digital platforms, influencers, travel and global trends.
Yet when they want to actually purchase those products internationally, the process can still feel complicated.
At the same time, thousands of retailers have products that could be sold internationally but lack the infrastructure, knowledge or resources to reach customers in other countries.
We believe the infrastructure connecting these two sides should be much simpler.
That is the opportunity we see.Our roots are firmly in freight forwarding.
That matters because international commerce cannot work without understanding what happens after the purchase.
Our experience in freight gives us an understanding of this entire journey that goes beyond simply creating an online marketplace.
We envision a world where geographical borders do not determine what people can buy.
Where a customer in one country can discover a product from a retailer thousands of kilometres away and receive it at their doorstep with the same confidence they would have when shopping locally.
And where a retailer does not have to become a logistics expert to become a global retailer.
Ten years ago, we started with a problem we had experienced firsthand. Thirty years of freight experience helped us understand that problem. The years since have taught us how complex the solution needs to be. Now, we are bringing that experience, technology and understanding together to build a platform for the next generation of global commerce.
We are not simply moving parcels.
We are not simply building a marketplace.
We are building the infrastructure that makes cross-border shopping possible.
